A political enthusiast and senior strategist, Neil brings over 25 years of public and private sector experience to Bluesky. Having held multiple leadership roles, Neil has been an influential voice and seasoned advisor to federal Ministers and senior officials in the public service on matters of procurement, public finances, international trade, public safety, and energy.
During his time in government, Neil was an integral figure to the biggest defence procurement in two decades, delivering land and air systems to those who needed them. He also led the federal government’s priority to review government spending across all departments to eliminate the deficit as part of Budget 2012 and carried that work though to Budget 2015. He also delivered the Open Government Initiative, an initiative to unlock government data.
With his wealth of experience and sound strategic advice, Neil helps clients navigate the complexities of all three levels of government in Canada. Whether clients need advice on government relations, strategic communications or issues management, his ability to bring complicated ideas or issues to a broad audience is one of his greatest strengths.
Most recently, he provided advice directly to the Chair and CEO of the Ontario Energy Board on policy, communications and public affairs. In this role, he helped guide the continuing evolution of the provincial energy sector and deliver value for consumers through significant consultations and dialogue with industry stakeholders and utilities. Neil’s expertise has led to his appearance on television and radio as a senior political analyst and commentator. Neil’s client work has included: TC Energy, Leonardo Helicopters, Myant Inc., and Huawei Canada.
As a loyal native of Toronto, Neil loves the Toronto Maple Leafs and in his spare time he enjoys cycling and playing guitar.
