Janice Nicholson

Vice-President, Digital

Janice brings more than 25 years of experience in public policy couple with digital and strategic communication to Bluesky. Her broad experience ranges from parliamentary affairs, health research communications, and sports marketing, bridging a unique intersection of skills that combine strategic communications with digital engagement.

Prior to Bluesky, Janice spent two seasons with the Ottawa Senators, leading the digital and marketing strategies for this NHL franchise before leading health research communications for Canada’s Stem Cell Network. At the Network, she designed and implemented a comprehensive campaign to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Stem Cell Network, along with the 60th anniversary of stem cells (a Canadian discovery) and helped to launch a multimillion research funding campaign. 

Born and raised in northern Alberta, Janice has spent most of her career in Ottawa and Toronto. From providing strategic advice to three federal Ministers and a prime minister to a decade of communications leadership at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Janice has been successful in bringing brands into the digital space and fostering enhanced engagement with their target audiences on a variety of digital platforms.

 

Janice has a communications degree from Simon Fraser University and a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta. She lives in Ottawa with her family, who enjoy exploring the region on their bikes.

Fun Fact

Ever a political junkie, Janice’s first foray into international politics landed her in Brussels, Belgium as the Executive Director of the International Federation of Liberal and Radical Youth.
