Susan has been providing private and public sector clients with strategic communications, public affairs and media relations advice and training for more than 20 years. She co-founded Bluesky Strategy Group with Tim Barber in 2003.
Whether for a one-on-one meeting with a Minister or in the hot-seat at a National Press Gallery scrum, a political show or at a red carpet premiere, Susan has advised CEO’s, Cabinet Ministers, leaders of organizations and officials on how to creatively and effectively craft and present their messages to achieve their communications and policy goals. Her networks in government and the national media help clients deliver their messages to the most important audiences.
Susan’s clients have included, national associations, global and domestic companies, government departments, government-funded organizations and local organizations in sectors including health care, aboriginal affairs, post-secondary education, environment, mining, agricultural, film and television and not-for-profit.
Prior to co-founding Bluesky Strategy Group, Susan worked in senior communications capacities with several other national public relations firms in Ottawa and Calgary. She also served as the Communications Advisor to the Federal Minister of Transport and the Minister of Human Resources Development.
Susan is also one of the co-founders of Canada 2020, a progressive policy think tank, based in Ottawa. Since 2006, Canada 2020 has grown into the “go-to” policy forum for influential discussion, debate, ideas, great thinkers and VIP speakers for the federal public policy community and beyond.

A veteran of coaching people to appear on-air, Susan is a guest speaker and has also appeared regularly as a political pundit and public relations commentator on CBC News Network, Power and Politics, CTV News Channel, CPAC, as well as radio and print throughout the country.
