Stuart McCarthy

Stuart joined Bluesky Strategy Group in 2003 providing strategic communications and marketing advice and draws on an extensive background of  more than 25 years in public relations, marketing, communications and media.

Stuart’s current and recent clients include Alenia North America, AgustaWestland, Thermal Energy International Inc., Plutonic Power Corporation, Certified Management Accountants of Canada, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Bruneau Group, TerraChoice/EcoLogo, Sustainable Development Technology Canada, Elections Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Stuart previously worked for a national public relations firm providing a wide range of communications services from strategic planning to communications execution for public sector clients, private sector technology companies and associations. He has also held senior communications positions at various companies including Corel Corporation and Thermal Energy International Inc.

Stuart’s strong writing skills and news judgment were developed as a newspaper journalist and editor over 15 years with the Winnipeg Free Press and Sun Media, culminating with six years as business and technology editor at the Ottawa Sun.

He is a winner of the Ottawa Business Journal’s “Top 40 under 40” business leader’s award. Stuart also received several journalism awards including the Edward Dunlop Award for Excellence in Journalism. Stuart has also been honoured by the Canadian Bankers Association and with a Civilian Citation from the Toronto Police Board of Commissioners.

Stuart studied journalism at Centennial College in Toronto. He currently sits on the advisory board for the Ottawa Sustainability Fund.
