Nicolas Todd

Since joining Bluesky Strategy Group in 2006, Nicolas Todd has crafted and executed strategic communications strategies, drafted speeches, and organized events for a range of clients, from national industry associations, government departments, and local organizations. This included working with different client groups in order to articulate objectives, develop key messages, elaborate strategies, reach consensus on tactics, and evaluate success. A keen researcher and writer, Nicolas uses his wide breadth of knowledge to help clients quickly understand their needs, identify nuances, and propose practical solutions that work.

Prior to joining Bluesky, Nicolas served as a senior policy advisor at the federal and provincial level, providing communications, foreign policy, international security, internal trade, consumer protection, and criminal justice policy advice to Cabinet Ministers, senior officials and central agencies.

Nicolas gained his communications and policy experience through various positions serving Cabinet Ministers and with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, both at headquarters and abroad, and with NATO’s international staff in the Office of Information and Press.

These assignments required Nicolas to work in demanding environments and under difficult circumstances — be it the high-pressure environment at NATO during the military conflict in Kosovo , organizing Prime Ministerial Summits in Canada or around the world, writing speeches for the PM and Senior Ministers, or negotiating sensitive Summit deliverables requiring extensive cross government consultations.

Nicolas’ current and recent clients include Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Western Economic Development Canada, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer, City of Ottawa, Office of the Ethics Counsellor, Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D), the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, TerraChoice/EcoLogo, the National Capital Commission Ombudsman, and CCAF-FCVI, Inc.

Nicolas was involved in launching Canada 2020, Canada’s newest Progressive Centre, with a June 2006 conference held in Mont Tremblant, QC that featured Vice-President Al Gore.
