Dean A. Janvier

Dean specializes in First Nations and Aboriginal issues and has more than 15 years of extensive experience in the areas of federal, provincial and First Nations politics, land claims, natural resources, research, Aboriginal policy and communications.

He most recently served as the Associate Chief of Staff to the former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, Phil Fontaine, where he worked for the last six years. His main areas of expertise include government and corporate relations, communications and strategic planning.

Dean graduated in 1999 with Highest Honours with a four year B.A. Hons. degree in political science from Carleton University.

Dean maintains strong ties with his family and Dene community of Cold Lake First Nations in Alberta. He is married to Mi’kmaq lawyer Candice Metallic and they live in Ottawa with their four children.
