Hussain joined Bluesky Strategy Group in 2018 and has since supported clients in a range of sectors, including defence, aerospace, education and non-profit. Hussain brings to his work a passion for public policy and his zeal for solving complex issues through his knowledge in navigating complex regulatory, political and procedural aspects of government decision-making. He has experience in building consultative relationships with non-governmental and international organizations, community-based organisations, and municipal and provincial government authorities.
Prior to joining Bluesky Strategy Group, Hussain worked five years in the federal public service supporting senior executives across diverse policy issues expanding at all levels of government. In his former position in an advisory role at Service Canada, Hussain held the pen on the department’s regional workforce renewal strategy for Quebec. He led on multiple projects by successfully developing an innovative recruitment strategy to brand Service Canada as an employer of choice.
He has also worked for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in operational, strategic and program policy. Hussain was part of the team that managed Canada’s response to irregular migration. He offered advice on strategies, conducted research, developed data-driven reports and presented results to senior management and executives.
Raised in Montreal, Quebec, Hussain is bilingual and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Journalism with distinction from Concordia University, where he also obtained his Master of Arts in Public Policy and Public Administration. Hussain wrote his master’s thesis on Canada’s response to irregular migration from an intergovernmental perspective.
Hussain is a Mad Men expert, an enthusiast of everything that is vintage, bookworm, and always has time to discuss football (soccer).
